You ever have a shot called something like like strawberry cheesecake, salted pretzel, green apple, etc and end up disappointed by how off the flavor is after you’re done?
Not with this one. The shot tastes EXACTLY like delicious Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Growing up, I loved when dad made pineapple upside down cake – definitely an all time fav and this shot brings the F-L-A-V-O-R.
As an added bonus, it can be made into an equally delightful drink.
Plus look at how beautiful it is!
I love the look of a layered shot in a tall shot glass, don’t you?
It looks just as beautiful as a drink, too! I’m a totally sucker for the perfect garnish. (Disclaimer – I was out of them when i made these drinks – but I will feature them soon!!!) I found these Filthy Red Maraschino Cherries at a local liquor store and they are AMAZING.
According to the Amazon product description, they are “…the Tiki Cocktail garnish choice of some of the best bars in the world. ” – I believe it!
Enough fawning over pretty drinks and delicious garnishes – on to the recipe!

Pineapple Upside Down Cake (Drink/Shot)
To start, choose if you’re going to make a shot or a drink. Grab the appropriate glassware.
In true lush life fashion, I’m going to make two of each!
For the shot, add 3/4 oz of cake vodka and 3/4 oz of pineapple juice to a cocktail shaker and shake shake shake! I made my shots 2oz and 2 oz personally, but you do you!
Strain the mixture into a shot glass. Add a small amount of grenedine and wait for it to settle at the bottom of the glass.
Garnish (if desired) and done!
The drink is the same thing, just larger and over ice!
Add one part cake vodka to one part pineapple juice. Shake. Pour over ice and add the grenadine. Garnish after the grenadine settles and it’s done!
Wasn’t that easy? Let me know in the comments if you made one. I would love to see a picture here or on Facebook!
