I think everyone living the lush life can relate when I say I have too much glassware. Go to a wine tasting? Free glass. Go to a whiskey tasting? Free glass! Cute champagne flutes on sale at World Market (I am in love with these!!!) – you guessed it – more glasses!
There’s nothing wrong with having too much glassware in my opinion (much to my husband’s dismay). In fact, I am about to add to my collection today with some adorable DIY painted wine glasses and tasting glasses.
Aren’t they adorable? January is my birth month as well as the birthday of The Lush Life, so of course I had to theme it up – and it was SO easy! You can use multi-surface acrylic paint to paint the glasses. As an added (optional) bonus, after being cured in the oven, they are dish-washer safe.
After a quick trip to Michaels and trusty Dollar Tree, I was ready to rock! I picked stemless wine glasses and tasting glasses for today, but you can use anything!
You can use stencils to make some designs easier. I made my own stencil for the tasting glasses, but I’ve used stencils like these before too with cute results.

DIY Painted Wine Glasses Supplies
- stemless wine glasses or tasting glasses (or both!)
- multi-surface acrylic paint
- Small plastic shot glasses or a palette for the paint
- soft bristle brushes
- An Oven (optional – but it cures the glasses so they are dishwasher safe)
- Q-Tips (optional – I used these for the polka dots)
DIY Painted Wine Glasses
Start off by cleaning the glassware you plan to paint.
After that, prepare your paints by using the shot glasses or the palette. I would suggest preparing your work area too with some old newspaper or paper towels.
With everything prepared, paint! The sky is the limit here. Don’t paint the last 1/2 inch or so to keep lips from coming in contact with the paint when drinking.
After painting was finished, I let mine cure for 4 days, but do whatever the paint you purchased recommends. I cleaned the insides of the glasses with warm water before prepping them for the oven.
Put your painted and washed glasses on a baking sheet. Set the tray into a cold oven, then set and start the oven for 325 degrees.
After 30 minutes, crack open the oven door and let the glasses cool.
The painted glasses are now complete and dishwasher safe!
